get-the-spinning-beachball-for-about-60-seconds-just-to-select-a-photo slow. Unacceptably slow. Slow, slow, slow.

Hey, I've been having a really hard time getting this page to load so I could make this comment. Anyway. iPhoto was the same for me -- got painfully slow when I got up to around 1700 photos. I archived everything on CD and now it's happy again.
Thanks, Sarah! I figured that might be it. Now the problems is that my cd burner is slow, slow, slow as well ... so I don't back things up as often as I should!
